The King of War

Greetings dear reader, it's time for my once-in-a-blue-moon blog post. And naturally it's about a different game, in this case Kings of War. So we've been playing (on occasion) Kings of War for about a year or so, and in that time I've been very restrained and only got one army for it: my anthromorphic Kingdoms of Men list.

As a result it was time for a new army (or three), and so it began...

Firstly there was the small matter of choosing an army, and for once this was simple, and not a choice people would associate with me... Orcs.

So why orcs? Well, I haven't played orcs in a fantasy setting since I was about 16 and fancied trying them again. Also, I am pledged to Artisan Guild's tribe and really wanted to use their models, as well as the Yedharo files I'd pledged to on Kickstarter. I had the original orc set from AG (6 troops, two leaders, two mounted options, and a pin-up) which gives a surprising amount of options given the modular weapon choices. AG also have the Frostfang orc set which I intended to buy. Yedharo gave me boar riders, infantry with various weapons, monsters, and characters. The Yedharo orcs are a bit slimmer than the AG ones, so decisions about units would have to be carefully made, using AG models as the tougher, more elite versions. Both ranges have male and female models, which breaks things up nicely and gives the army a different look.

Then, of course I hit a stumbling block. I'd planned the army on Easy Army (best $2 I've spent) and was starting to plan the print queue when Ben mentioned the Rift-Forged Orcs as he was looking at Storm in the Shire. I had no interest in buying the models but thought I'd had a look at the rules. Soon I was working out a new force, using the Rift-Forged list. There were two reasons for this (maybe three): firstly the Rift-Forged Orcs have less troop options meaning that my range of models were more likely to cover all bases. Secondly: the list is newer, and just a bit 'tighter' with more tuned units, less 'dud' options in it. The units you aren't likely to use are actually the orc ones from the main list, whereas the orc list has a few that just won't make the cut. It looks like it might have some variation in how it can play, whereas the orcs very much feel like they can only be effectively played in one fashion. Thirdly: there are articles about the Rift-Forged on sites like dash/28 that give some information about them, whereas there is very little about the orcs themselves, which is crucial for someone who's only got limited experience of KoW.

The danger of course in reading about an army that you've no knowledge of is that you are likely to take what you read as gospel. This can seriously skew your view on units and lead to them being discounted for reasons that you don't fully understand. This initially happened to me with the Unforged Orcs unit, which was not rated well on dash/28 and consigned to the 'won't be chosen' bin. However after reading some more about the list and looking at points values and thinking about how the game works they were moved back into the 'going to important ' pile instead, due to being a cheap horde that I'd need to unlock things. It is important to remember how a game plays when considering things, especially characters, as units/models will often have a use that is not immediately apparent. Keywords like Nimble can turn a very average unit into a serious threat to opponents flanks/rears, individual characters can prove to be problematic speedbumps, and units with disproportionate unit strength can be game-changing when objectives are concerned.

I started printing on the Elegoo Saturn, a beast of a machine with a massive build-plate that could allow for a unit at a time. The AG Frostfang Clan Orcs were my Rift-Forged Legionaries (hand weapon and shield) and the Reborn Legionaries are made from the same models but with two-handed axes. My thunderseers are the ogres from the Frostfang set; I know they aren't cyclops but I will paint them to be blinded in one eye, as though it was payment for their powers, a la Odin. There was a false start with my Hellstriders whom I originally was going to just use the AG Frostfang wolf riders for, but they just didn't have the presence I wanted, so I replaced the wolves with the winged lion from the AG Requiem Brotherhood set to use as the manticores. I planned to take a Storm Giant but that was replaced with a Winged Slasher for the maneuverability and reliability that the dragon gives. This is the AG manticore (a beast of a model) with the original AG orc beauty model standing beside it as my warlord. My Unforged Orcs are the Yedharo orcs, a mixture of males and females, with a few Legends of Signum and other orcs added for good measure. These are a bit slimmer and less muscular-looking than the AG ones which I feel fits the Unforged as they aren't rift-touched and have received the power of the Abyss as yet. I'm using the Frostfang scenery piece as my Shrine with the Frostfang pin-up (a blacksmith lass) on it. It printed particularly well, and I'm really pleased with it.

I am beyond delighted with how they've turned out. There are some character models too, but I think they'll be addressed in a future entry. The printer gave me fantastic models, although it has since been replaced, but with an upgraded model!

Vanilla to Ramah: do we need sleaze with that?

While Vanilla Haqqislam is much maligned in N4 compared to N3… ah shucks I have nothing that insightful to say. I have only ever played Infinity on kitchen tables. So painting.

I have painted up a sleazy biker bar and figures to give me a chance of fielding a Ramah army, instead of Vanilla Haq. You see I played lockdown Infinity; 200 point or Recon+. In that Haq were very chilled in vanilla/sectorial and also good; take 3 characterful gunfighters, take 3 specialists with Wip 14+ take 3 midfield sneaky git tricksters and 6-9 other fun things for ARO or makin’ orders.

But all the cool kids (Fisher King and Ben) are taking fireteams now. So while Infinity is a game about rolling D20s and just going with the random wildness of it all. And while its about enjoying those wild swingy things that happen in the mod-stacking, crazy krunchy rules layered madness of an even now very much for the“grown ups” (or grown up with it) game system. Sometimes Infinity might be about winning, or having a chance to win. Fireteams help with that? I’m asking internet. I don’t know, do fireteams help you win?

Any way. Painting. I asked Fisher King, should I paint two sensible two-storey tower blocks or a sleazy biker bar?

FK: Sleazy biker bar.

BJ: Should it be super sleazy?

FK: You mean neon nudey signs?

BK:Yeah that kind of thing?

FK: Yes, I think it should have neon mammary glands visible.

BK: You realise it’s a building?

FK: You asked if it should have them not me.

BJ: I think this imaginary exaggeration of a conversation has gone too far now, in its accusatory tone.

FK: Yeah, its not needed, I accept all your neon lifestyle choices for buildings.

BJ: And me also your 28-32 mm modelling choices and asthetic, whoever suggested them, and however large and unrealsitically perky they might be.

So first up is Carmen and Batard. Carmen is 95% done she needs mat varnish and her fire arc fixing. I wanted her to look heroin-chic, rather than pin-up. I just felt life threw her some bad shnizzle, then she made some bad life choices. Not facial tattoo level of bad, like the nomad jaguars bad, but bad. I painted some of her boots as jeans, but didn’t correct the mistake. I imagine Carmen long legged, and stylishly smoker thin. I like how the model even has loose jeans and top, and an overall vibe that lets you know she slept in her clothes, rode in them, then repeated the cycle for a couple of weeks and that flower might be rooted in that mop of hair. Overall I hope I made her grubby and gangrel, but am afraid she’s gone a little “grim dark”.

Batard I want to be a blonde haired Viking-like troll. He is less finished needs blue eyes and more strawyness and scraggliness in his hair More scraggle, and less mop..

I wanted them to look the opposite of Equipe Mirage and Duroc. We will see if they ever meet up on the board. I think this is unlikely as they will presumably be opposite ends of the board, doing similar kinds of violence, showing its not how you get there that counts, its what you do at the end of the journey (unskilled violence and placing templates).

Next are the Janissaries. Another Infinity old school, cheesy name appropriation from History. I wanted these to stand out so they are bright. I intend to use them as an ARO Haris – to put 2B AP sniper rifle and Missile rounds down range, soak up some orders, hand out some dissapointemnt, then mosey out to the midfield late in active turn 2. Perhaps missing a man and a wound, but with an HMG or a multi pistol to cause a bit of trouble.

Last is the product of Ben’s stripping – a Kum biker. Plus a hacker and an HMG that had been partly done for ages. The point of sectorials is that a line troop HMG can become good. These guys are my standard haq colour – more khaki and less green than stock. The biker will be used as an SMG bounty hunter in Ramah. It was one of my favourite models to paint. Such a simple cool sculpt with sufficent detail a skilled person, better than me, could really work with.

So there it is. I painted Haq for a Ramah sectorial, and have nothing clever to say about it.

So I've turned to stripping...

With BlauJ's nefarious plot to get Martin and I back into Infinity, I have fallen into my old curse of buying a new army per week (sometimes multiple armies)!

Having looked through the available models and factions, I had settled (for about 30 seconds) on O-12, and subsequently ordered myself them before I could change my mind.

Shortly after when perusing the Corvus Belli advanced orders I spotted Crimson Stone, which was too tempting to pass on, and after convincing BlauJ to split it (don't think it took much convincing), I had a fledgling Kosmoflot force. Not quite my favoured Caledonians (but we'll get to them - all in good time), but still had my favourite character in Infinity - Uxia MacNeill, as well as the stunning new Equipe Mirage - 5, so onto a winner. (I will do a post on both the O-12 and the Ariadna in time).

Following on from this I was happy with my choice of forces, O-12 as the main option, as I felt they had all the aspects of Infinity, with Tags, HI, cool characters, Hackers and a good range of equipment (MSV and the like), which would give a balanced force to use alongside the Ariadna, which had some really cool stuff but often lacked the full range that made Infinity Infinity.*

However as a never settling hobby butterfly I made the mistake of checking eBay, one too many times, and found a Steel Phalanx army going for an affordable amount, for pretty much the full range. The first Infinity mini's I bought were a few HaqqIslam mini's (I think maybe a starter set and the old Kum bikers), as well as the Sophotect, which looked unlike anything I had owned model wise before, and although I had no idea what I'd do with them, I loved the look of it, but never managed to decide how to paint it.

The army came painted, which I have a bit of an aversion for, as I do prefer choosing my scheme, and whilst often a slow process, painting the army to make them mine. I have recently bought a lot of second hand Warmachine mini's and have been experimenting with mixed success, paint stripping them, and as such I felt that this may be achievable with the Steel Phalanx too.

Thankfully I won the army unopposed, as having been working on night shift the night before I had to slap a max bid on, and hope I wasn't sniped.

This is what I got:

Ignore Dart, as she wasn't included in the listing.

The whole transaction was great, with the models arriving promptly and well packaged, and I set about my attempts to strip them.

Firstly I had watched a few different videos on suggested fluids to use, and thanks to Geek Gaming Scenics, I ordered some Cellulose Thinner from Amazon (I will put the link here - no affiliation, but certainly worked a treat), unfortunately although ordered on same day as the army, the army turned up first, so instead I used IPA in a Ultrasonic cleaner for a day or two, and some Dettol (wouldn't really recommend), which did help to shift a lot of the paint. Once the thinner turned up however, it was on a different scale.

This is the result of overnight in the Cellulose thinner (I split into two batches, which would recommend as think it would have taken longer the more I added in), I reckon that I would have got the same results in an hour or so, but I had been working late shift so was away anyway, but also the thinner seemed to take a bit longer to loosen superglue to make it into a jelly like paste that could be easily removed with tweezers.

I did have the joys of trying to work out which piece went with which mini, but thankfully there are some unboxing type photos on google for most of the minis, so wasn't an issue.

This is everything built (there is a Bounty Hunter which was already ours that I was using as a test model for stripping, as well as 2 Ekdromoi and Thamyris the Aoidos, both of which I ordered to add to the collection).

Bases are 3d printed toppers from Sync Ratio Systems which Martin and I are using for some of our armies. Unfortunately the weapons are missing from the remote and the right arms are missing from the Devabot's, I will look to print arms to replace these, and not quite sure my plan for the remote.

The collection is just about complete, I have ordered Patroclus and Penethisilea (older version) from Norway, which will hopefully arrive next week, I own Hippolyta for my o-12, and will order Hector, Andromeda and the Rebots come payday. I need to decide if I want to add the new Thorakitai, as they are AVA 6. If I can find someone selling the old Probots, and can pick up some Yudbots, that should be the full collection.

As an aside the listing also came with some non-Steel Phalanx Aleph, which are pictured below, not sure what will do with them, maybe allow another army...

*I perhaps also one a small HaqqIslam force which I am not quite sure what to do with as yet.

To Infinity (again) and beyond...

Picture the scene dear reader, if you may... It is a quiet Sunday evening in our house when BlauJ visits and we are content in our gaming world. We have Kings of War armies nearing painting completion, War Machine forces on display (mostly constructed), and Pike and Shotte battalions under construction. Life is good, and there is no time or space for new games/models. We are happily discussing wargaming and Magic: The Gathering when Blau makes an offhand remark about playing Infinity with his son (who is older than we thought!! Time has flown). This provokes a comment from myself where I happily recall plugging a hapless Mobile Brigada with an ORC trooper, and Ben recalls the joyful experience of placing many camo markers and watching me fail many a discover roll. The conversation slowly but surely snowballs, and I find myself almost unconsciously reaching for my 'phone and opening the Corvus Belli homepage; just to see what there is, I hope you realise..?

There's a new 300 point Military Order PanOceania (all praise the Hyperpower) boxed set, and also a new Military Order Action Pack that looks similar in size... Well it would be rude not to download Infinity Army to see how many points it is, wouldn't it? It's about 265 points (give or take a few depending on the load-outs), in case you're wondering. And there's a new Knight of Montesa model, on a motorbike with a dismounted option too, which takes that to 300 points (the standard for a game). As Ben looks, he spies a new boxed game, Crimson Stone, which comes with Ariadna and Nomads (his two weaknesses). BlauJ laughs, his work is done, and then he departs, having sown the seats of temptation. If you check more recent printings of the Book of Genesis you'll see the image of him beneath the tree, a box of miniatures in hand, tempting a surprisingly masculine-looking Eve...

Shopping lists are written, gaming tables are planned, suppliers are sourced, and by Thursday orders are placed. Goblin Gaming and Ashdown Gaming are able to provide us with the vast majority of our order, and Wayland Games has the extra scenery we needed. We ordered the Kaldstrom scenery packs, 2 of the main and two of the expansions, and the Underhive gaming mat (4' by 4') by TTCombat. But what toys did you order Martin I hear you cry?? Well, the Military Order 300 point army was very tempting, but it was comprised of several models I'd previously owned, whilst the Action Pack had 9 brand-new models so that was the starting point. I ordered the Knight of Montesa to bring it up to 300 points and the paint set. Ben generously added the Order Sergeant box to the order (comes with a Hacker, a Heavy Rocket launcher, a lady with a combi-rifle and an Auxbot with heavy flamethrower), which gives me some options if the boxed set didn't quite work out. Ben, after suggesting it might be Ariadna or Nomads, ordered O-12, which were a faction I'd never heard of, causing some extreme consternation as I looked at their range and rules. Had I picked a lemon?? He got the Action Pack, booster packs Alpha and Beta and the paint set, which similarly gave him 300 points plus some serious options in the form of Hippolyta and some fancy other troopers.

Our first game was 150 points and nearly didn't start when we realised in our haste to buy toys, we'd forgotten to buy the rules... Eventually we managed to download them, despite Sky internet's best attempts to thwart us and we were good to go. I foolishly deployed my medics side-by-side and lost them both to Ben's Gamma with Feuerbach before I got my first turn, failing the dodge rolls and being ko'd. Luckily my Knight of Justice (which appears to be N4's version of the Father Knight) stormed up the table, cutting down the Gamma with his sword (because in the far future, despite anti-matter guns and bio-chemical rounds, the best way to kill someone is to get a 14th-century cosplayer to hit them over the head). My biker survived a lot more than I thought he would, especially after I needlessly made him Impetuous (not understanding how the new rules worked I didn't realise it was optional).I managed to table Ben's army, although only the Knight of Justice (on 1 wound) and a single Crosier were left standing.

The scenery requires a special mention. It looks stunning once it's all built and on a proper mat. It is an absolute bastard to get together however. Everything is incredibly snug and some of the slots do not line up (the top of the tower's wall being the part in question, as detailed by people on YouTube). We have enough for a very dense board (as previously stated, 2 of each Kaldstrom pack), and it is likely possible that you could manage with one of each if you had some scatter terrain.

Tune in next time to see what else I've bought, how my first game against BlauJ went, and hopefully to see some painted models.

Here We Go Again.... Part 2!

Sean here :) (uploaded by Martin in case of confusion)

So any of you who know Ben and Martin (aka Dumb and Dumberer!) know they love to drag their friends into their latest game they're playing. In their defence I did drag them back into MTG (sorry!) and Flames of War, and maybe one or two others actually come to think about it....

Anyway, they were extolling the virtues of Hail, Caeser, so I thought 'oh why not'. Now the key thing in any new game is read the rules, get a demo/test game then choose an army. Well I skim read parts of the rules and jumped straight to choosing an army from the Biblical and Ancients army book, who to choose?

Well an army that was around during the Roman and Ptolomeic empires would be ideal, but not essential. Key considerations for me are,
1) ALL models must be available in plastic.  I love plastic and hate metal, I am willing to use metal and resin (which I am quite fond of) for some models,
2) It must be an interesting army. No not exotic, full of elephants and warmachines or super soldiers, it just have to have that certain something about it.

So lets have a look,
Chinese and Indians, awesome, getting models... less awesome!
Romans, heavy infantry, war machines, massive troop choice. BUT Ben is already doing them and they're a bit too popular.
Carthage, again similar pros and cons to Romans.
Maccabees, now here's something interesting, troop choices, well infantry wise not much, cavalry wise lots, but you can't take much cavalry. The interesting bit is in the blurb. For those who don't know about 170 BC the Jews rose against their Persian masters and fought a mainly guerilla war to obtain independence for Judea (in essence the forerunners to the Judean Peoples Front, the Peoples Front to Judea and the oft forgotten Judean Popular Front). As a rebel force they had no uniform or standard equipment, just what they could get their hands on. They'll do nicely.

So what models to use? Metal Maccabean models are available, but only in small packs, so that's expensive and I don't like metal. Plus I think if I did use the metal models there aren't many poses and the force would look quite uniform, which doesn't seem right. Maccabean Judah existed from 170 BC to 37 BC, so armies they could come across, Selucids (Greeks, one of the divisions of Alexanders the Greats empire), Ptolemians (Greeks in Egypt, again deacended from Alexander), Parthians (Persians), Romans and briefly Armenians.
I need to make medium spearmen (actually equipped with, spears or javelins or both) , medium spearmen with long spears (that's a spear that's longer than a normal spear but shorter than a pike, apparently there's a difference!), archers, skirmishers with bows/javelins/slings depending on my fancy and light, medium and heavy cavalry with javelins, spears, bows, kontos (pretty much combine as you wish, 7 Cavalry choices!)
Most of the armour has spears regular or super-sized, which is handy because that is what everyone in the Mediterranean used at the time, so I'm thinking get some Hoplites (long spears), early Roman allied troops and Carthagian soldiers, gives me spears, javelins, various armour, helmet and shield types. Bowmen and slinger sprues and chop and change the bits together. Should be fun.  Cavalry, well probably Greek and Roman models will be best I think.

So the models should look cool, but how to give them a united look? Well I'm thinking use of Tyrion Purple for cloth on at least one model per stand (4 models per stand for infantry). Tyrion Purple was an important colour in ancient Israel, though I will substitute this colour for a shade of blue that will identify more easily with Israel, then some hand painted banners and shield designs. Now my painting skills are not up to much, so simple designs, Menorah (Jewish lamp that holds 7 candles, you'll recognise it when you see it) and some Hebrew script, there were certain phrases popularly painted on their shields so I'll go with a simplified version. Maybe the phrase painted across a units shield, 1 character per model. We'll see how it goes....

Here We Go....Again

It began, as it so often does, with a visit from a friend. In this case the friend in question was Dan, a long-time nemesis of both Ben and I (only when across the gaming table), who had returned to the green and fertile lands that is the north-east of Scotland. Dan has always been a big fan of historical wargaming and has, over the years, made a few overtures to get us into one of the many systems. The time has never been right sadly, and poor Dan was forced to find other friends to scratch that itch...
However, thanks to NASA and the changing of my star sign, I was no longer the reliable, grounded Cancarian that I once had been, and was now an impulsive. risk-taking Gemini. And so, after hearing Dan extol the virtues of 28mm Romans and Celts I spent a restless night wondering if I was missing something in life.
Naturally the next few days were spent gazing at Warlord Games and Victrix's websites, poring over images of men in short skirts, and re-familiarising myself with the history of the Mediterranean area. I already knew which army I was interested, that was easy, as I've always loved Carthage, so it was just a matter of trying to persuade Ben to be interested and wait for him to change his mind a dozen or so times. This took so long that I was a year older by the time he did (ok, so my birthday was two or three days after I'd made my decision, but the point stands), but we were just about set. But, it's not like my brother to throw a spanner in the works, is it....? He didn't like the models available for the enemies of Carthage, and this led to me changing my army to one that would face later Romans so that he could use them. I wanted to stay in North Africa (basically I wanted elephants), so I went for the Ptolemaic empire, whom I knew nothing about other than that they were the best faction to start playing as in Rome: Total War 2 due to the heady combination of pikemen, chariots and elephants. This suited me, now all I needed was Ben to stick to his army.
We played a game with Dan, I used Celts and Ben gave the Romans a test-drive. I was sure this was a safe bet: Dan's Romans are stunningly painted, he has elephants, and I did so badly with the Celts that I was sure there was no way he'd want to use them. The game was a blast, with carnage and failed Order tests galore and we were hooked. I went straight to eBay and ordered the Warlord Games Successor Army box from the Trolltrader: 100 Phalangites (pikemen), 8 Companion Cavalry, and an armoured Elephant. I also ordered Gripping Beast's Arab Spearmen and Archers, Essex Miniatures Camel Archers, and a box of 4-horse chariots. This was topped off with Footsore's Egyptian Domina and Wargames Foundry's Egyptian Noble Household and Soldiers in Training which will make up some of my Commander models stands.  Ben finally settled on Late-Republic Romans (Caesarian Romans), after being unable to find a Celt/Gaul force that he liked and was affordable, and we were good to go.
The models turned up and I discovered a few issues. The Essex Miniatures Camel riders require you to buy the camels separately. I had not done so. Their website does state this very clearly but I'd missed it. This meant that 5 light cavalry cost me £29, which I feel is excessive. Camels are essentially light cavalry with feigned flight included in their cost, I do not feel they merit that sort of outlay. The chariots I had ordered were 1/72 Scale, or between 18-20mm. They haven't come out of the box since then. The Warlord Phalangites have no command models included in their boxes, these are a separate purchase. Nonetheless I was very happy with what I had.
I have done an unboxing video of the army: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g3OWeeeSew

I then set about building the army and (more excitingly) ordering the rest of it. I'd worked the force out to 400pts, despite having not played a game as yet.... It consists of: 5 Pikemen units, 2 Pikemen Levy units, 1 Peltast unit, 2 skirmishing archer units, 1 Ageman heavy cavalry unit, 1 medium cavalry unit, 1 light cavalry unit, 1 Camel unit, 1 light chariot unit, 1 elephant, plus 3 commander stands. I ordered some Phalangite command models to give the units standards/musicians/leaders and give them some life. These came from Aventine miniatures and 1st Corps, whom I also ordered the Ageman heavy cavalry. The chariots are from Newline Miniatures and are the Indian 4-horse chariots as the only other 4-horse chariots available are the Seleucid Scythed chariots, which are too heavy-looking, and also fielded by the Ptolemaic's mortal(ish) enemies, so they were a no-go. The light cavalry are the Victrix Numidians, which look stunning, and one hindsight would have been a more sensible purchase than the camels I reckon.

The queen on the throne is the Sultana from John Popson/Effincool Minis Kickstarter The Court of the Sultana. I've had her for a wee while and never had a use for her until now. Whilst she is not at all the most historically accurate model, she does give me a cool, unique centre-piece to the force.
Hopefully another video and blog post will follow once the rest of the stuff gets here. Until next time, take care and happy gaming.

Infinity- more BlauJ nomads

Infinity came and went. But it made no difference to me. I like painting infinity. But painting the wildcat with the boarding shotgun was the closest to a chore that an infinity model has been. I like how the wildcats are all different sizes, kind of daft punk and they have varied costumes with different textures etc. But I felt I had finished the wildcats really. Anyway he's done

The baggy pants clockmaker was more fun. He is a combat engineer, but being Bakunin I imagined him being more amateur. I gave him baggy jeans so that he would look less military. Baggy pants was nice to paint. He reminds me of my brother in law.
I also painted up three special units. Gomez was very nice to a paint. Cool details and very quirky. Her pose made it easy to sus out where the light would come from. The bandit was also full of details, and like other infinity figures kind of paints itself. I left off the pony tail. I went for shiny red shoes - it reminds me of the wizard of OZ, and a pair of shoes my wife once wore when we first met.

The jaguar bothers me in one thing only. The model I mostly  like overall, but for the studs and lumps on his head. Those studs I do not like. His pose is good and he looks like a lightly armed skirmisher. But head studs, a pain to paint and I haven't done it yet. I will lightly varnish before I try.
I like the top photo - nothing wierd. It just kind of looks a bit wizard of oz. Maybe a lion is needed.

The  part finished models I have are a Brigada, Alagcile and another Jaguar. The Alaguci.le will get pride-rainbow dreds and the Brigada will get a set of two-colour blended highlights in Red and white.
I like the pose of the bandit and his face, especially the beard. But I do not like the drawn knives. I'd have prefered a smoke popin' pose. Within Sci fi I am not a fan of the "take the tank/tag over there I want to hit them with my Sword!". really?  I like infinity poses when they are dynamic and charachterful, but not OTT. I find the waving my daggers at the HMG total reaction Remote is a bit silly. At least for me.  I know he's a 10 point model. But he has value to me, and white is a hard colour to clean.
