Unfinished business

So we finished on Toshiro. This is how he ended up with his Ashigaru Summons. Ashigaru are decent as a summons because they are survivable (Hard to Kill). They are card swallowers, but decent. For cards and Stones on the first turn.

I want the plates on their chests to look a little like Jade, and tried to make my models look more Han than Japanese.

I did some work to Toshiro. His hair needs some love. As does his Katana. I still think he looks like Ian Holloway. But for me I feel I stop painting him and his honour can stay intact. So he put some of glistening entrails back, at least until they are needed for summoning.

Stilll to do are a mortimer and a blue belle repair. Both have shiny metal bits.

These are both models I painted early on and liked, and very much want to fix (they both remind me of people I knew). They took some hits at a tourney.

On my work bench are also the Soul Porter and Anna Lovelace. This latter model I can not seem to finish. I take her out with other models, but always seem to finish other stuff. I hastily put simple colours on her, and did not do this well. It means that I still need to correct mistakes. The other day Soul Stone Miner picked her up. Took one look and put her back... She had base coats and nothing else and didn't look good. Poor Anna.

I have played with her. She is a good way to see cards, if you don't use Philip or Hanna. Nerfing enemy pushes etc is also very good and her ability to summon could be alright too. Doing her cool-stuff needs suits, and as a henchman she can stone for them. But to be honest none of her tricks are worth stones. Maybe a card, but a stone for a mindless zombie? I don't think so. I might cheat a low number with the right suit for moderate damage and a Seishin, or a corpse-bloatable model? Maybe. But not a stone for a zombie.

Following in Reva's wake

Vincent ended up with the kind of Blue I wanted for the Onryo. His face looks manic enough for me though. He was a simple model also, with little detail, but nicely sculpted surfaces. Poor Vincent. Still a look at that face will tell you he's made a few bad choices in life. That  "Ikea Blue" coat isn't the worst. Still At least he doesn't have a facial tatoo.

The corpse candles were ok. A bit of a faf to assemble, but a bit simple to paint to be truthful.

The shield barer was nice to paint. She seems very 80's in dress style and was nice to paint and highlight. The guardian shield was particularly fun and I went with Red. Partly in homage to GO and partly to get a Roman feel. No metalics. I will paint up the other Male-shield bearer too. I  quite like these models. Next to stone-swallowing Molly they will be good and often fast. If Molly is in spirit mode they can be prompted and black blooded - eventually. With Toshiro they have potential to make corpses for him with the suits and hand out some nice beats.

Reva rides forth

I got the Reva box set early and then didn't have time to paint it for ages.

In terms of assembly Reva was alright for a Malifaux model but I honestly find the infinity metals easier. When Painting her I wanted the black horse and black gown to be different. I did this by washing and blending the Horse (Grey on top and black in recesses and then layering Reva's dress - gloss black up to turquoise. I gave he a white hood. It just seemed appropriate. She was nice to paint. The detail is there, but with nice flat surfaces that can take three plus layers or colours. I thought about red eyes for the Horse. But instead I went for red mane and hooves, and green eyes

I want one more layer on her hood, to add some orange from the lantern and maybe top light her upper torso little, or around her face.

More summons

More summons. The Seishin was very easy to paint. I washed for base colours, blended on surfaces and lined other areas. I like it. I find its a little Rupert the Bear, but I like it.

A technique I also used on the Benaie zambie's flesh (the zombie gamer). I took extra care lining his behind. This is one of my favourite Malifaux metals, along with the Rogue Necromancy, metal Molly, metal mortimer and the metal Pug Canine remains

The other zambie is a Mantic Ghoul. Mantic stuff kind of splits the group a little; GO doesn't care for it, I quite like their Undead and old Space Human's (colonial/corporation marines) and nobody else cares. This ghoul was fun to paint and had lots of detail. I like the "Would you care for knife?" pose. Zambies make good butlers.
