The Blog died. Time for its return. Time for a resurrectionist
to light the candles in his hand of glory and see what he can bring forth....
I blame warhammer. Stay away from warhammer and crack. If we
do that pretty much everything should work out alright.
Recently real life gave me some discretionary time in the
evenings for three weeks. I used it to paint a little. To see if I still could.
Let me show you what I did.
First of I wanted to get another master done. So I thought
about it and went with Yan-Lo. I also
did some other spirits at the same time.
All of these were actually very nice to paint - although at
times I find the malifaux plastics hard to assemble well. The big boy drowned
has been on my table for a while, I had to use foundation-paint to plug his
gaps. I liked the flabbiness on his skin and he reminds of the soft-squishy man
from "The Yellow Sign".
Carrying on with the Yellow Sign King in Yellow theme we
have Yan-Lo. I personally enjoyed his beard very much. I like a simple beard. I wanted an Imperial yellow Hanfu feel and went with it. His hands
and face had a really nice texture. I liked painting Yan-Lo. He wasn't Wrath of
Kings flat, but he has simple pleasant lines and surfaces that were mostly easy to dry
blend. I kept him metal-free and wanted a jade effect for his staff.
The Onyro was a bit hasty. I wanted his blue to be skyblue,
but it ended up a bit too deep. The features on his mask were a little hard to
paint properly so I flat edged them which only made them look rougher. But for
me this is better than feature less opera mask effect.
I like the group picture. Its kind of an unusual yellow-sign
version of the Village People..
